Why Melania Trump prefers Trump Tower to NYU dorm life for Barron

Barron Trump, the youngest son of President-elect Donald Trump and incoming first lady Melania Trump, began his freshman year at New York University’s Stern School of Business in Lower Manhattan this September. However, reports indicate he won’t be living among his college peers anytime soon.
According to PEOPLE, multiple sources reveal that the 18-year-old continues to reside at Trump Tower, the family’s Midtown Manhattan home, under his mother’s supervision as he adjusts to this new chapter in his life.
“She will do everything she can to make sure Barron does well in school and is socially and mentally adjusted to his life as a college student,” a source told the PEOPLE.
“Living in a dorm in a college town isn’t in the stars for him at this point. Barron already has his own political ideas. It all needs to be monitored in light of the situation,” it added.

Given the Trump family’s controversial status and Trump’s impending presidency, another source told the PEOPLE that Melania, believes residing at home rather than in NYU accommodation is currently the most suitable option for Barron.
“Whether or not others think he is capable of being on his own, Melania feels it’s better to be around him as much as possible,” that source told the media outlet.
“I see that continuing,” it added.
Melania is working to balance her forthcoming first lady responsibilities with supporting her son during this period, they said.
“Barron is in school all day, so she has plenty of time for official jobs as well as being there for her son when he needs her,” the source added.
This living arrangement may not be permanent throughout Barron’s university education, but it is the most appropriate action “for now,” they said, adding that , “Every mother handles her children the way she feels best.”

During a Fox News interview in September, Melania revealed that Barron had chosen to live in their NYC tower whilst attending university classes.
“It was his decision to come here that he wants to be in New York and study in New York and live in his home, and I respect that,” Melania said.
“I hope he will have a great experience because his life is very different than any other 18, 19-year-old child,” she added.
Melania praised her son’s strength, intelligence, knowledge and kindness, noting that he has grown into an “incredible young man.” She also reflected on her parenting approach, emphasising that she raised Barron to be independent, allowing him to make his own decisions.
The 18-year-old has reportedly captured attention on campus, earning a reputation as a “ladies’ man” thanks to his tall and handsome appearance. “He’s really popular with the ladies,” a source had earlier told PEOPLE, adding, “Even liberal people like him.”
