As the H-1B row exposed Vivek Ramaswamy much to the dislike of the Make America Great Again gang, many Americans and MAGA activists questioned how he became so rich so early in his life and called him a ‘con’ artist. Vivek Ramaswamy advocated for more H-1B visa holders to arrive in the country for tech jobs and said it has something to do with American culture that companies prefer to hire more foreigners and first-generation engineers than native Americans.
Social media users claimed that Vivek Ramaswamy was a con artist who purchased an Alzheimer’s drug that had already failed clinical trials four times. Vivek rebranded it, brought his mother psychiatrist Geetha Ramaswamy on the board, took the company public through an IPO and cashed out before the drug failed again.
A DailyBeast piece said Vivek Ramaswamy’s 400-word rant actually showed how terrible his childhood was. Citing a podcast, the report said Vivek Ramaswamy himself said he attended a public school which was “not particularly great”. Ramaswamy was pushed down the stairs by a random kid while he was carrying his books to the science class. The report said Ramaswamy did not name the school but it was Princeton Junior High School in Cincinnati.
As part of Vivek-shaming, his failed presidential bid also came up. “I mean, Vivek got caught on someone’s cell phone telling a Trump supporter in Iowa to vote for him instead of Trump because it will supposedly save Trump’s life. But now they are figuring out he might be a con man,” Ron Filipkowski posted.
Vivek Ramaswamy was undeterred by the huge controversy that he triggered by criticizing the American culture. he reiterated that he had been saying that the H-1B system was broken and it should be replaced with one that focuses on selecting the very best of the best but not through a lottery, it should be pro-competitive and de-bureaucratized.
After a full day of firefighting, Vivek Ramaswamy posted on X: ‘Alright, back to real work today’ — putting an end to the debate on his part.
