The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly considering a festive return to the UK with their children, Archie and Lilibet. However, the royal family’s traditional Christmas gathering at Sandringham might not be on their itinerary. Instead, a compelling alternative has surfaced: an invitation from Harry’s uncle, Charles Spencer, to celebrate at Althorp.
The Express reported a source saying that the invitation from Spencer is still on the table, though the Sussexes have yet to decide.”Charles [Spencer] has invited Harry, Meghan, and the children to Althorp this Christmas. It’s far too early to say whether they will take him up on it, but the offer is there if they want it,” the source revealed.
Despite this generous offer, no invitation to Sandringham has been extended so far, but the possibility remains open. “There hasn’t been an invitation extended to Sandringham just yet, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be one forthcoming,” the insider noted. “It would be highly unlikely if there was an invitation extended, and I don’t think they [the Sussexes] would take them up on it anyway.”
The source hinted at a preference for a more private celebration with Spencer, adding an extra layer of intrigue. “Even though Harry and Meghan have not accepted the alleged invite yet, they may lean towards a quieter Christmas at Althorp rather than a grand event with the Royal Family.”
