NEW DELHI: India D, led by Shreyas Iyer, extended their lead to 202 runs against India C on the second day of their Duleep Trophy match in Anantapur on Friday.
Iyer scored 54 off 44 balls and Devdutt Padikkal made 56 off 70 balls, aiding in building a steady score. At stumps, India D were 206/8 in their second innings, with Axar Patel and Harishit Rana at the crease.
Iyer’s innings included nine boundaries and a six, while Padikkal hit eight boundaries.Their partnership of 126 runs stabilized the innings after early losses. Manav Suthar of India C took 5/30 in 15 overs, including the key wickets of Padikkal and Ricky Bhui.
When the match resumes, Rana, who has yet to score, will aim to support Axar Patel, who is on 11 off 37 balls, in the first session of the third day. India C will look to curtail the lead further.

India D began their innings shakily, losing openers Atharva Taide and Yash Dubey with just 40 runs on the board. However, Iyer and Padikkal’s partnership brought stability. Ricky Bhui contributed a 91-ball 44 before being trapped by Suthar.
Earlier, India C, resuming at 91/4, were bowled out for 168 runs. Harshit Rana took 4/33, while Axar Patel contributed with 2/46. Baba Indrajith scored 72 off 149 balls, making him the top scorer for India C. Abhishek Porel added 34 runs in 61 deliveries.
Young left-arm spinner Manav Suthar was the star of the day for India C, returning excellent figures of 5/30 in 15 overs, highlighted the report, reflecting on the spinner’s pivotal role.
With the lead now at 202 runs, the match is set for an interesting third day as both teams vye for dominance.
