Yashasvi Jaiswal, the top scorer in the recent Perth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024, displayed his aggressive batting style in the India versus Australia PM XI day-night match at Canberra.
Jaiswal and KL Rahul provided India with a strong start in their pursuit of 241 runs, appearing comfortable against the pink ball. Jaiswal confidently challenged Jack Nisbet, but the New South Wales fast bowler remained unyielding.
Jaiswal began the sixth over with a boundary, hitting a full-length delivery angled towards leg stump. He cleared his front leg and swung forcefully across the line. The ball connected with the leading edge, looping over the fielders and trickling to the boundary.

Jaiswal also struck the second ball for four, dispatching a back-of-a-length delivery aimed at middle and leg stump. His swing was uncontrolled, yet the ball flew off the outside edge, sailing over second slip for another boundary.
The third delivery from Nisbet resulted in a leading edge as Jaiswal attempted a flick shot. The ball popped up towards the point fielder.
The fourth ball was a bouncer that struck Jaiswal, sparking a heated exchange between the batsman and bowler. The fifth delivery was fielded at gully, while Jaiswal ducked under the final short-pitched ball of the over.
The opening day of the two-day pink-ball tour match was abandoned due to rain. India subsequently chose to field first in the shortened 46-overs-per-side match.
Indian fast-bowling all-rounder Harshit Rana claimed 4 wickets for 44 runs. India dismissed the Australian Prime Minister’s XI for 240 in 43.2 overs during the pink-ball warm-up game at Manuka Oval on Sunday.
